Spire Extraction

An 800-pound limestone spire/finial and a portion of its base fell over 60 feet from the top of the bell tower through our sanctuary roof. It precariously balanced on a steel rafter and a single nail keeping it from crashing through the sanctuary floor and into the Student Center below. A crane retrieved the spire on May 30th. Below is a video of the extraction. We are thankful to report that no one was injured and no addition damage resulted from the extraction process. This spire was one of 19 spires that the tornado tore off our church on May 16th.
