Phase 1 Completed

It has been 381 days since the tornado on May 16, 2025, caused devastation in St. Louis. The damages sustained by our church are gradually being repaired, with the first major phase of restoration now complete. Three weeks ago, our restoration contractors, Precision Construction and Roofing, provided an update on the completed roof. See the post below.

Several exterior projects remain. Two projects underway are the repair of the stained glass windows in the sanctuary and the replacement of the 54 stone spires crowning the building. Pinholes in the glass have been patched, and several panes have already been reinstalled. It will take several more weeks before all the stained glass panes are fully restored. Although a few newly carved stone spires have been received, it will be another six months before all the stonework on the building is completed. It is unknown at this time how long the scaffolding will remain erected around our building.

With our building’s exterior now watertight, attention is turning to interior repairs. Please pray for favor with our insurance company and for the advocacy of our contractor to ensure all damage resulting from the initial tornado destruction and the subsequent rain fall is covered. Assessors have been on site, and there are disputes regarding what will be covered. The nursing room off the Narthex, the choir loft, and the women’s restroom off the Student Center are among several areas with significant water damage.

As of the beginning of May, the Lord has generously provided $238,871 toward our $300,000 rebuild goal. To make a contribution to help fund our rebuilding, please use this LINK.

A few other repairs have also been completed this spring:

  • All damaged glass windows in the buildings have been repaired or replaced.

  • New office suite A/C system

Upcoming project includes new Skinker signage and landscape restoration:

While awaiting the full restoration of the unique beauty and function of our building, we remain a community committed to bringing the welcome of Jesus to St. Louis.
